About Amy and Danielle

Hi, we’re Amy and Danielle.

We’re BFFs of nearly 30 years and we’ve been business partners since 2002. We are passionate about all things small business and never feel happier than when seeing one of our clients succeed.

We met as undergrads in Political Science at McGill University, then palled around while we dipped our toes into the icy waters of Bay Street. From there we both completed MBAs at The Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto. In the years following the MBA, changes on the home fronts led us to reconsider our corporate careers in favour of self-employment, and we never looked back.

In 2002 we purchased a defunct business with a few bucks in our pockets and a U-Haul full of patterns, sewing machines and fabric. We launched our business and quickly began selling beautiful blankets to babies and kids around the world. In 2011, our book, Mom Inc - How To Raise Your Kids and Business Without Losing Your Mind or Your Shirt, was published by HarperCollins. Around this time we began teaching and coaching clients more formally. (We realized that we’d actually been doing this for years.) In 2013 we sold our first business and launched Spark Consulting.

Since then, we’ve been coaching, consulting and teaching, as well as writing for and speaking to entrepreneurs across Canada. Through our work at Spark and as advisory consultants to the Business Development Bank of Canada we’ve helped hundreds of business owners get focussed, clear and profitable.
